It would seem that the element has long been familiar to everyone, and most games are already hard to imagine without it. Someone uses this functionality to the fullest, and someone is only familiar with its basics. In this article we will try to summarize all the interesting information on this topic.

Information that not everyone owns

There are several different variations of maps for GTA 5, for example, topographic and satellite, but within the framework of this article we will use the road map, since it is the one that is displayed in your menu by default.

In order to look at it, open the pause menu and select the "map" section. You will see an enlarged version of the map shown above, depending on the area where you are on this moment are.

A legend will be displayed in the upper right corner of the screen explaining the meaning of the icons located directly on the map itself (and if there are no icons, press the left CTRL for PC or the right stick for consoles).

You will also be able to change the scale of the map using the Page Up and Page Down keys on PC, LT and RT on Xbox, L2 and R2 on PlayStation. Each icon is responsible for designating a specific place - these can be hairdressers, clothing and weapons stores, and much more.

Despite the huge game world, the developers territorially divided the map into a city - Los Santos and a suburb - Blaine County. Almost everyone knows that you can put a GPS tag on the map, which will display the shortest path to your destination - a purple segment will appear on it - this is the intended trajectory of movement.

It happens that the mark is put, however, the trajectory itself is not visible, then you need to go to the game menu, the settings tab, the video section and there, on the line “GPS route”, select the value “On”.

In addition to the waypoint, there is also such an option as a placemark or marker - by pressing Tab (Y on Xbox or triangle on PS) and it appears where the cursor was placed.

Up to 10 markers can be placed on the map at once - this is very convenient if you found something interesting during a mission or a free ride around the city, but there is absolutely no time for research - put a marker and go on about your business. The marker will be saved and you will not have to circle for a long time in the same area.

So, as you already understood, you can mark 11 places on the map at a time (1 GPS waypoint + 10 marks), but that's not all. It is also possible to remember absolutely any place that you need, and not just with a label, but visually.

Just take a photo and save it. If you ever want to walk around the places of former glory, it will be enough to go to the pause menu and select the gallery (1), then select the photo you are interested in (2).

Information about the place where the photo was taken will be displayed below, and on the right on the map you will be clearly shown where this place is located.

Secret places with vehicles

From the very first versions of the game, developers have been practicing one interesting trick - there are always places where you can find unusual vehicles. Car dealerships with supercars in GTA 3, Vice City and GTA IV immediately come to mind. Of course, in the fifth part of the Big Car Theft there are also places where you can find a lot of exclusive vehicles:

• Let's start with an area called Rockford Hills, on one of the streets of which you can find an Adder car, the body resembling the notorious Bugatti Veyron. (Point A)
• A little west of Richman is a parking lot where you can find various rare cars. At different times, you can stumble upon Infernus, Cheetah, Bullet, Colt Voltie and many other cars. (Point B)
• A little east of the Port of South Los Santos you will find a spawn site for already tuned cars. (Point C)
• And if you suddenly need a tow truck, you can find one near the Los Santos International Airport. (Point D)

Military base

“It is simply inconceivable that such a huge area as Los Santos and Blaine County could be managed solely by police departments!” - Probably, that's what the guys from Rock Star Games and built a whole military complex in which you can find many different vehicles, which we will discuss below.

It is no secret to anyone that military facilities are not marked on the map, and Fort Zancudo is no exception. Therefore, since it cannot be found on a regular road map, we will use a satellite image:

The legend is as follows:

• Under the numbers 1 are Titan aircraft;
• Twos - military trucks, they are also Barracks;
• Troikas - P996 Lazer military jet fighters;
• The number four denotes helicopters with weapons on board, and in the people Buzzard;
• Hidden behind the five is a grappling hook-equipped cargo helicopter, better known as the Cargobob.

It is quite possible that someone will want to mention that we did not indicate the tank, however, we are in a hurry to get ahead of you - firstly, the tank runs around the base, and it will not be possible to find out its exact location, and secondly, there is no need to look for the tank, believe me - he will find you as soon as the alarm is raised.

By the way, about the alarm - as soon as the hero is on the territory of the military base, a piercing howl of a siren is heard and he is assigned four wanted stars.

Remember the scene from The Matrix Reloaded where Neo has to confront an army of Smith agents? This is exactly what your character will experience, only instead of poking in the face of our guys, they will start stuffing them with lead from all sides.

How to infiltrate a military base

First of all, let's talk about the safest way to enter Fort Zancudo. When passing storyline as Trevor, sooner or later you will be faced with a mission in which you need to hunt deer.

During this task, you need to call a taxi straight to the fort, and take the car from the taxi driver at the gate and go straight to the base. Of course, in fact, this is a bug user, since, oddly enough, no alarm will occur, you can safely walk around the territory of the base and choose exactly what you need.

All subsequent options will force you to take in a fair portion of best case cartridges, and at worst - rockets, so we strongly recommend that you do the following exclusively by Trevor, because thanks to his special ability you can get out whole from anywhere.

The second option is to steal or buy a helicopter and fly to the base. Try to stay as high above the base as possible, as the air defense system works very well here. After your vehicle is above your target, drop down.

Option three - order a Maryweather helicopter and fly with their pilot to the base. Remarkably, the military will not attack this transport, so it will be more convenient to choose a target over which to jump (the pilot refuses to land).

And the fourth option for FlatOut lovers. Get a more powerful car and head towards the town called North Chumash.

There, turn around 180 degrees and follow the road towards the tunnel, however, there is no need to enter the tunnel itself - deviate a little to the right and a mound will appear on your way, which will act as a natural springboard, thanks to which you can bypass the fence.

There are other jumps, but climbing to the base through them is difficult and very inconvenient, so we decided to limit ourselves to describing only one.

Map random events, like the previous GTA 5 map, is needed for 100% completion of the game. There are 57 events in total. Mostly robberies: shops, cash-in-transit machines, ATMs. But there is also something else. Fortunately, it is not necessary to participate in all events: in order to completely complete the game, it will be enough to complete only 14 such missions.

Map of toxic waste

The toxic waste map will come in handy around the middle of the game, after completing the mission Merryweather Heist, when you get a mini-submarine and the opportunity to buy a mooring for it. The numbers on this map show the depth of the waste drums. By collecting all the barrels, you will not only recoup the cost of the pier, but also earn decent money, so be careful about toxic waste :)

Bridge map

The bridge map, like many others, is needed for 100% completion of the game. In total, 50 bridges are marked on the map, for complete passage you need to fly "only" under 25 of them. Recall that it is also advisable to fly under bridges if a police helicopter is chasing you, so knowing the locations of the bridges will come in handy anyway.

Aerial stunts map

Gamers who made Vice City and San Andreas, probably remember how difficult and interesting it was to fly an airplane in these games. In GTA 4, this type of transport did not exist, since only one city was present in the game. But with the release of the fifth part, the planes are back again! Players will have the opportunity to complete 15 missions in which they will have to perform various stunts on planes, demonstrating their piloting skills.
