The road to millions starts small

It is noteworthy that many of those who are now part of the PokerStars team started their journey with a small deposit, which later became their first big step in the world of professional poker.

For example, an iconic figure like Daniel Negreanu took his first steps as a teenager, losing 10 on his first night of poker. Nevertheless, he continued to play, read all sorts of educational materials and improve his level in every possible way, and after a few years he was able to become a stable plus player. And by the age of 22, he realized that poker became for him what he wants to do for the rest of his life.

Such examples only prove once again that everyone, including you, can reach the top in poker. Do you want to follow in the footsteps of Daniel Negreanu and other professionals?

Take your first steps in big poker... Who knows, maybe it is your photo that will soon grace the page of the professional players of the PokerStars team.

Hooray, I became a member of Pokerstars Team PRO Online!

Over a year ago, a window popped up in my PokerStars client asking me to fill out a candidate profile for PokerStars Online Pro. Then I got very fired up with this idea, and since I had a certain fame in the community (and the player's publicity is practically the most important criterion in this selection, as far as I understand), I thought that I had no chance of success. Unfortunately, I did not receive the status that year.

This year, I suspected that the re-recruitment to the team will most likely be, because the contracts were concluded for a year. And this year I decided to grab this opportunity properly :) After all, in fact, I thought that I fit PokerStars perfectly. It only remained to bring this to their attention :)

Operation "Become a missile defense" began in Germany, Leipzig. I once again went to the BlackMember Party from PokerStrategy, which was just sponsored by PokerStars. The poker room was represented by Steve Day, one of the key player relations managers. So, on the first day, after a festive reception with champagne, I caught a moment when no one communicated with Steve, introduced myself, said that I was becoming a supernova elite for the second year in a row (by the way, he also filled this status in the past before working at Stars), reminded that we met in Monte Carlo, and started talking about the room, recent innovations (such as playing at 20-50bb tables), etc.

Smoothly, the topic also touched the online pro team. He said that he really wanted to get into the team, but didn't get it (he was joking - well, yes, obviously, since you are Russian and you are not LuckyGump :)), he briefly mentioned that I have a blog with more than a million views, which interested Steve. Then, in order not to be imposing, we discussed other candidates (for example, Kevin WizardOfAhhs), said goodbye and went to eat. Personal contact was established :)

I proceeded to the second stage immediately upon my return. It was necessary not to let Steve forget me :) In order to fully convey to the management why I deserve to become a Pro, I registered the domain www.innerpsy.com, and started looking for a freelancer who would make me a page “11 Reasons Why I Should Become online pro ". As a result, all of them did not suit me in terms of terms, and I made the site myself in one evening (fortunately, the site in this context = 2 analogous pages in Russian and in English).

I sent a link to it to Steve and received confirmation that he remembers me and considers me as a candidate, but in any case, you need to wait for the official application procedure and the decision will be made only after it.

The third stage is the simplest one - fill out the questionnaire that appears in the pokerstars client. You didn't even have to try too hard in it - I just inserted a link to my site, which clearly explains everything that decision-makers need to know.

And then - wait. This was not easy at all. Initially, the deadline was announced on November 21 - after it, if they did not contact you, then they did not take you. At least it was written that way. As a result, already desperate at the very end of November, I wrote in the topic SNE Pursuit 2010 for 2 + 2 something like "Is the following true: you have not been contacted yet == you have not become online about", to which I received a reply in a personal from Steve - “In your case, no. In the case of 99.9% of applicants - yes. "

A new arrival of hope, joy, and at the very beginning of January a new manager of the online team, Dustin, contacted me by phone for an interview. It turns out that I made it to the list of finalists. The interview went well, I told everything I wanted (practically), I was told that in case of a positive result for my candidacy, I would be contacted within 2 to 7 days. As a result, 14 days passed, and I again lost all hope, and rushed about in a misunderstanding - where I messed up. But on day 15, Dustin called me again and congratulated me on qualifying for Team PokerStars Online Pro.

I am doubly glad that what I have to do under a contract I already do with great pleasure - I write blogs, play only on PokerStars - the most convenient poker room I have ever played.

So I once again clearly demonstrated to myself that if you want to achieve something, you need to make every effort, and then, for sure, you will succeed.

Now, being Online Pro, I will write more often on the blog, come up with marathons that I hope will be interesting for you to rail, talk about my poker travels (Bahamas, Monte Carlo, Vegas - reports will be regular and I hope interesting), and strive to maintain the image of a poker professional by playing at PokerStars for a little more best poker every day.

This is what happened to me a New Year's miracle :)

Good luck at the tables and play poker at PokerStars!

It's nice that among them there are as many as three Russians, which, you see, is not bad for a country whose authorities have equated poker with ordinary gambling like roulette, and even.

We have already written about that, and now we will tell you more about the three most famous of them: Daniele Negreanu, multiple champion who won World Series events; Vanessa Russo 2009 EPT High Roller Winner and Jonathan Duhamele, the 2010 WSOP champion.

Daniel Negreanu

Daniel Nigreanu is the most famous member of the PokerStars team

He is arguably the most prominent member of the PokerStars team. The room was lucky that the poker room that Daniel represented was closed and they managed to lure him into their place.

Daniel was born in Toronto, Canada. It happened in 1974 in a family of emigrants from Romania. Initially, he planned to play billiards professionally, but in the billiard rooms he learned about poker. Negreanu was unable to enroll in college and started playing poker in Canadian casinos. At the age of 21, having bolstered his bankroll, he headed to Vegas.

His first successful performance in major events awaited him in 1997, and a year later he took his debut WSOP bracelet at the Texas Pot-Limit, becoming at that time the youngest owner of a bracelet (this record was taken from him only in 2004). In the following years, Negreanu continued to show excellent performance, he already has 4 bracelets, he won twice in the WPT. His biggest success came in 2004, when he was named Poker Player of the Year at the WSOP, WPT and CardPlayer.

At PokerStars Daniel since 2007 under the nickname "KidPoker", which means "poker kid", "poker child". He earned this nickname for his early (of course, at the time) achievements in the game. Daniel is the author of several books and a section in the Super System, a book that, by the way, can be purchased with FPP at the Stars Store.

Vanessa Russo

Vanessa Russo is a poker pro who has won over a million dollars in her career

She is beautiful, young and a great poker player! An almost perfect woman. Vanessa is one of five ladies on Team PokerStars.

Rousseau is French, although she was born in American New York in 1984. Until ten years she lived in France, then moved to Florida, studied well, was an activist and went in for sports. At the University of Miami, she studied game theory, which led her to chess and then to poker.

Vanessa's career began online as she was not 21 and was not eligible to play in the US. In real life, the first successes occurred in 2005, and the next year she consistently makes it to the finals and sometimes wins various major poker events. Her biggest success at the Grand Final EPT € 25,000 High Roller in the spring of 2009 brought her nearly $ 1,000,000, and she is firmly in the top poker player in overall tournament achievements.

Russo is an active member of the alliance for the legalization of poker, including online (this a big problem for the USA). She still goes in for sports, was a participant in the "swimsuit" photo session of the "Sports Illustrated" publication. Russian fans could see her at the RPT in Moscow.

On Stars, Vanessa plays under the nickname "LadyMaverick". In the fall of 2007, Russo finished second in the WCOOP Stars mainvent, winning $ 700,000.

Jonathan Duhamel

Jonathan is another millionaire from Team PokerStars

He is a Canadian professional poker player who became famous for winning the 2010 WSOP mainvent. He is the first Canadian to do this. Since 2010, he has officially represented the TPSP team.

Was born in 1987 in Bucherville (Quebec, Canada). Jonathan started his career as a poker pro in 2006. Before winning the main event, he had already been in the WSOP prizes, and in 2010, remaining in heads-up, he defeated his opponent John Racener (with AJ against K8s). For this event, he earned $ 8,945,000 in prize money.

But Jonathan's success doesn't end there. In January 2011, Duhamel wins the EPT Deauville High Roller event. A year later, also in January, he made it to the finals in four PCA Stars tournaments. Of these, we can note the fourth position at the PokerStars PCA Super High Rollers, where his prize money amounted to $ 313,600. He also finished first at the $ 5,000 NLHE PokerStars PCA Side Event. For the victory, he receives $ 234,000 in prize money. He also became the second in the PokerStars PCA High Roller and thus riches by $ 634,550.

Jonathan Duhamel is a fan of HC Montreal Canadiens. After winning the 2010 WSOP Mainvent, he donated $ 100,000 to the Montreal Canadiens Children's Fund.

In 2012, the amount of prize money he won in tournaments reached almost $ 11 million. Of these, he earned $ 8.9 million at the 2010 ME WSOP. Jonathan also stated that he left his studies in the field of finance in order to finally pursue exclusively professional poker.
