A game has been released on Android and iOS in which you can catch Pokemon in real life. What do Pokemon look like in real life Are there Pokemon in real life?

If you ever played Pokemon in the 90s, you must have wondered at least once what it would be like to catch a Pokemon in real life. The new augmented reality game for smartphones from the makers of the original series, Pokémon Go, will allow you to finally make this dream come true - by processing the data received from your phone, it places the characters of the game on a map of your environment, and you can only catch them by moving in reality.

Using GPS data from your phone and watch, Pokémon Go tracks your location in certain moment time to further use this information in the game - the pokemon "appears" near you (on the phone screen), and you can catch it by following it on the map. As you move, more and more different types of Pokémon appear depending on where you are and what time of day it is. Thus, the developers of the game are trying to inspire users to move more and explore the world around them in real life in order to catch Pokemon in the game.

After launching in the US on July 6, the game topped the App Store's free and top-grossing app charts in less than a day. It is also popular on Android: in the US, every 20th owner of a smartphone with Google OS has already installed the game. Nintendo shares rose 22% last week and continue to rise, with the company's value up $7.5 billion in five days. The day after launch, on July 7, the Pokémon GO servers were intermittently down due to overload, frustrating players.

So far, however, there is no need to talk about a decline in interest in Pokémon GO: for example, in terms of daily audience on Android in the US, the game was already catching up with Twitter last Friday. This is serious, because where the audience is, there is marketing. The popularity of Pokémon GO is already boosting the revenues of local businesses like cafes and local stores that happen to have "gyms" or "pokéstops" - places to replenish in-game resources - so any owner of such a business in the United States should install the game and see if it's time use pocket monsters in advertising.

Part of the game's popularity is due to its easy and free access, but a more important motive for users who remember Pokémon since their first appearance is a long-standing fantasy of fans of the franchise: the possibility of a real existence of Pokémon.

All games in the Pokémon series take place in a world inhabited by exotic magical monsters - they can look like various animals or objects, and people called "trainers" travel through this world, taming these creatures and using them (debatable from the point of view of ethics) to fight each other.

The main goal of the game is based on a fairly popular activity in Japan - collecting insects.

The first generation of the Pokémon game had 151 magical creatures, but the number has since risen to 720 and more. There are currently only 151 varieties of original Pokémon available in Pokémon Go.

A wave of "Pokemon mania" spread throughout the world in the late 1990s. The first two computer games Pokémon Red and Blue came out in the US in 1998, followed by Yellow in 1999, followed immediately by Gold and Silver in 2000. Then spin-offs of the game series (their offshoots) began to appear, such as Pokémon Snap and Pokémon Pinball in 1999, a popular series based on games, cartoons, character cards and other goods related to the world of Pokémon. For several years, Pokémon was the world's leading franchise that became a real cultural phenomenon, and since then, probably, all game fans have fantasized about the existence of Pokémon in reality.

Of course, while no technology can bring fictional characters to life, however, we can already simulate a world in which Pokémon are real. That's what Pokémon Go is trying to do - using your phone's location and time data, the game gives you the idea that Pokémon really live in our world and can be found. Given that most fans of the franchise are now adults, the game also affects our sense of nostalgia, which also contributes to its growth in popularity.

Pokémon Go is based on the original handheld games, but there are significant departures from the original games.

First, the similarities between the games: the very essence - you have to catch Pokemon. The game also features Pokemon trainers that you can fight for glory or rewards, as well as Professor Willow to help you get started and give you your first Pokemon. In addition, users can customize the appearance of the character and choose his name.

The most obvious changes in the game, compared to the previous parts, can be attributed, of course, to the way the Pokémon world is navigated. In the original games, you just controlled the character in the virtual universe with the keys, but in Pokémon Go you have to move around on your own, allowing the game to use your real environment. For example, if you're in a park, you're more likely to encounter insect-type Pokémon, near a lake or other water, water-type, and at night, ghost-type Pokémon.

Therefore, the need to move, like the protagonist of the series, across different terrain at different times of the day in reality is the key to a successful completion of the game. The source of income for the creators is purchases within the game itself - in the store you can buy various means for baiting Pokemon.

also in new game completely changed the course of various battles in the game. First, when you catch a new Pokémon, you fight against it personally, and not together with your Pokémon team. Secondly, during the battle with other trainers, much less strategic decisions are now required - victory depends only on the set strength of your Pokémon, which attack while you fend off the opponent's blows. By participating in such battles, you develop the power of Pokémon and increase your level of training abilities. This opens up new possibilities for you, such as finding rarer Pokémon.

Right now, you won't be able to fight your real friends online just yet, and you won't be able to trade Pokémon with them, which was an important part of the original games. Such a shortcoming upset some fans of the first games, despite the fact that the creators promise to add these features in the future.

Also a big disadvantage is that the battery of the phone is quickly used up with the game on it all the time - there are already several guides on how to extend the battery life. Of course, this is now the main technological obstacle of all augmented reality games, which is likely to be removed.

In addition to fulfilling childhood fantasies, Pokémon Go also presents many users with the opportunity for the first time to experience augmented reality technology, which connects the real and virtual worlds. Unlike completely virtual reality, which completely immerses you in a fictional world, such games only use technology to improve the world around us, for example, by placing a Pokémon in the next room.

At the moment, Pokémon Go is probably the largest augmented reality game, although it will not be the first and it will not be the last: game developers are actively developing this area, continuing to work on the concept used in games such as Ingress, Life Is Crime, and , of course, Pokémon Go.

However, these games have already discovered one of the problems of augmented reality: when people compete, they become aggressive. Thus, a meeting of two players in reality during the game can lead to very real violence, which, of course, game developers cannot allow and are actively trying to solve this problem.

Pokémon Go has also been the subject of several unfortunate incidents - four suspected thefts have used the game to lure their victims, there have been several reports of injuries sustained while playing the game, and the police have been forced to warn users not to enter restricted areas.

And nineteen-year-old Sheila Wiggins from Wyoming, USA, went to look for water Pokemon near the river, but found something completely different from what she was going to - not Medzhikarp and not even an alligator were swimming in the water, but the body of a drowned man.

Yet these games allow us to reawaken our childish imagination, which allowed us to see ordinary objects and ourselves as heroes of our favorite games, films, books. Augmented reality games actually replace the imagination, creating a fictional world inside the real one and allowing us to take a break from everything for a while and catch a few Pokémon instead.

In Russia, the application is only available on Android for now, for iOS users, you can install the application by changing the country of your App Store account to Australia, New Zealand or the United States, provided that your bank cards are friendly with these countries.

First of all, Pokemon GO is designed for adult players who are nostalgic for early games cycle. Therefore, her 151 monsters (now in the game you can catch or get 145 of them) are taken from the legendary video games Pokemon Red and Pokemon Blue, released in the late 1990s.

Also, these Pokemon appear in the animated series "Pokemon", which has been broadcast in Japan since 1997, and in Russia since 2000. To help you collect pet monsters, together with Film.ru, we have selected ten of the coolest - that is, the most useful and most spectacular looking - Pokémon from Pokemon GO. Catch them all!

10. Pikachu (Pikachu)
Type: Electric

To be honest, Pikachu isn't the best Electric Pokémon available in Pokemon GO, and he doesn't look as cool as the ones above him in our top ten. But the little adorable Pikachu is the symbol of Pokemon, and, of course, it should be in the collection of every self-respecting Pokemon. By the way, you can get it at the very beginning of Pokemon GO. When prompted to choose one of the three starter Pokémon, move away from them without making a choice. At some point, they teleport to your character. Move away from them again... Do this three times and the fourth starter Pokemon will appear - Pikachu.

Nessie is not found in Loch Ness. But if you go there on vacation, you can try to catch the Nessie-inspired Pokémon Lapras there. This is the most charming and sweetest Pokémon, which, according to games and anime, loves to transport people across the seas. As you would expect from such a large creature, Lapras holds a punch very well. Therefore, it can be very useful in risky fights, when the fate of the battle hangs in the balance.

8. Scyther
Type: Insect/flying

A guy shirt is about a sincere person. Slayer-guy is about Skyter, a bipedal insectoid. Its bladed paws can turn even very tough Pokémon into mincemeat. Remember Baraka from Mortal Kombat? The same type. Only green, winged and much more elegant. Skaters are found in fields and meadows.

7. Alkazam
Type: Parapsychic

“There is no spoon,” said The Matrix. "There is a spoon!" - assures Alkazam, who fights with two spoons in his paws. No, he does not have them in order to be more dexterous to eat a defeated enemy. Alkazam uses psychic abilities, and he likes to show off his power by bending kitchen utensils with his mighty mind (Alkazam has an outrageous IQ). In fact, the mind of this Pokémon is so strong that it has very weak muscles, and Alkazam controls his body by moving his limbs using telekinesis. Alkazams predominantly live in cities. This is the final step in the evolution of Pokemon Abra.

6. Gyarados
Type: water/flying

Gyarados is a game target for those who are not afraid of hard work. It evolves from Magikarp, one of the weakest and most useless Pokémon. It is very difficult to fight Magikarp. But if you endure this test, you will be rewarded with the fierce and powerful water dragon Gyarados, whose strength more than compensates for the shortcomings of Magikarp. As a water creature, Gyarados lives in rivers, lakes, and seas. Apparently, there it is easiest to catch him in Pokemon GO.

5. Arcanine
Type: Fire

Want to get a dog? Get better Arcanine! He is stunningly handsome and fluffy, impeccably brave and sincerely loyal to his master. Arcanine also runs so fast that he can run all over Russia from Kaliningrad to Kamchatka in 24 hours. And he blazes with fire, and much more accurate and powerful than a combat flamethrower. With such a guard, even the CIA special forces are not afraid of you! And he doesn't even have to fight them. As soon as they see him, they will forget about their mission, because they will very much want to pet him. Arcanine evolves from Growlight.

4. Gengar
Type: Ghost/poison

If Carlson pretended to be a wild but cute ghost, then Gengar is actually him. His ghostly and toxic abilities are an excellent find for those players who like to win not with brute force, but with insidious tricks. For example, Gengar can put to sleep or paralyze the enemy, making him defenseless for a while. In the Pokémon world, it can be used as an air conditioner as it lowers the temperature of the surrounding air. Unfortunately, this does not work in real life ... Gengar is the last step in the evolution of Pokemon Gastly.

3. Dragonite
Type: Dragon / Flying

According to gaming encyclopedias, this adorable dragon can circle the entire globe in less than a day. He flies three times faster than ordinary aircraft, and he is so smart and kind that he saves people from sinking ships and brings ships lost in the fog to the piers. In other words, it's a Superman Pokémon, and it could be on your battle team! Judging by the fact that in classic games Dragonites live on the ocean shore, in Pokemon GO they are easiest to catch while relaxing by the sea. Although who knows where such a fast dragon can fly ... Dragonite is the final form of the evolution of Dratini, more like a sea eel than a dragon.

2 Blastoise
Type: Water

What could be cooler than a ninja turtle? Only a huge turtle with powerful water cannons under its shell! The mighty Blastoise was impressive when Pokemon Red and Pokemon Blue first came out, and he's still one of the most memorable Pokemon in the entire history of the series. In older games, it was not difficult to get it by evolving the starter Pokémon Squirtle. In Pokemon GO, the evolutionary path is much more difficult than before, but the joy of owning Blastoise is greater. Plus, hunting for it can be combined with summer swimming, since water Pokemon are often found near rivers and lakes.

1. Charizard
Type: fire/flying

There is a lot of debate about which Pokemon GO Pokemon should be in the top ten, but all experts and many gamers agree that the best Pokemon of the first generation of games was Charizard - a dragon-shaped winged monster, bursting with fire. One look at him is enough to understand why souvenirs with him have always sold well and why he was one of the most spectacular symbols of Pokemon Red and Pokemon Blue. But, of course, Charizard is not only an impressive appearance, but also very useful and powerful combat abilities. Unfortunately, in Pokemon GO, it is much more difficult to get it than in older games, where it was not difficult to evolve it from the starting Pokemon Charmander. But, no matter how difficult it is, the hunt for Charizard is worth the candle!

Pocket monsters from nintendo games, which captured the minds of schoolchildren and gamers, baffle the adult generation and those who are far from the romance of Japanese anime from the 2000s: what do Pokemon look like, and why is the temptation to catch them on smartphone screens so great?

What Pokemon look like in real life

Pokémon were "born" in Japan, so the animation features inherent in the state are also reflected in the Pokémon GO game. Monsters are cartoon characters that have the features of fairy-tale characters mixed with members of the flora and fauna. Each of the Pokémon differs from the previous one not only in typical features (grass appearance or fiery flying), but also in external data (height, weight, development), as well as disposition. The calmer the Pokemon, the more likely the trainer is to "tame" it and become a mentor. The violent nature of the Pokemon (Agressive) negatively affects learning, but adds strength to the monster in battles and increases the chance of a super strike.

How do Pokemon look like in Pokemon GO?

In total, there are 17 types (elemental characteristics) of Pokemon. half of them combines several types (for example, the psychic-grass Exegutor), which makes Pokemon less vulnerable to principled rivals and increases protection. The attacks of the "double" monsters are characteristic of both the main type of element and combine the features of the subspecies.

External differences between monsters are noticeable:

pikachu

The No. 1 yellow monster in the world, Ash Ketchum's best friend and the most popular Pokemon in the world is Pikachu. The electric animal has collected the features of a rabbit, a rat and a hamster. Pikachu's Lightning Strike ranks first among the most famous Pokémon attacks. Pikachu's pointed tail resembles an electricity icon. The red cheeks of Pikachu personify the good-natured nature of the monster.

In the animated masterpiece Pokémon, Pikachu is seen in 100% of the episodes. The monster stood out among the rest of the Pokemon reluctance to "sit" in Pokeballs - so Ash never forced his friend to return to them, even after fighting strong opponents. And although Pikachu does not belong to, his dedication and devotion to the coach more than once saved Ketchum from defeat for the honorary badges of the coach.

"Bad guys" - the negative characters of Pokemon - have tried to steal Pikachu from Ash more than once, but their antics always failed. The Pokemon thieves liked Pikachu not with a pretty appearance, but with interaction with other Pokemon - Pikachu always found a common language with "wild" monsters, persuaded them to make the right decision and obey their mentor.

In the Nintendo app Pokémon GO, Pikachu does not appear as a "starter" - one of three Pokémon to choose from for a novice trainer. To catch Pikachu, the trainer must move away from the catch radius of the classic starters - Charmander, Bulbasaur and Squirtel. The distance from the Pokemon must be at least 100m - and then the Pikachu figure will “pulsate” in the available radius. You can catch a monster as a starter in the same way as the rest. CP for catching Pikachu at the start of the game is usually 10-15.

Pokémon Eevee

Eevee is a Normal-type Pokémon. Outwardly, it resembles a cartoon fox with a fluffy tail, long ears and big eyes in anime style. All Eevee Pokémon produce rare DNA that can evolve into different elemental types.

Pokemon GO presents the classic Eevee evolutions - three stages: Vaporeon (water), Jolteon (electric), Flareon (fire). Each type has a high CP and is able to fight the strongest Pokemon. The evolution type is controlled by renaming Eevee after the Pokémon anime hero brothers training the next form of Eevee.

What Pokemon Lileep and other legendary monsters look like

Legendary Pokémon occupy a special niche in the Pokédex. Unlike classical monsters, the creators of Pokemon were inspired by the images of the legendary Pokemon based on the memory of past years - fossils became prototypes.

More often than other legendary places in the Pokedex is Kabuto, the prototype of invertebrate fossils. Kabuto resembles a beetle with a brown shell and bright red eyes. Kabuto's shell is incredibly hard - the protection of the Pokemon helps him survive even against fighting monsters. With a small SR, Kabuto lives near the seas, on the coast.

Lilip is another fantastic Pokédex resident. The Pokémon Encyclopedia describes it as a Grass-type, but it looks like a lily monster. Lileep is based on echinoderms. In the modern world of Pokémon, Lilip is a "newcomer" - he was resurrected by scientists thanks to the miracles of genetic engineering (as well as the most powerful monster in the world - Mewtwo).

What does the Pokemon GO game icon look like on the App Store and Play market

In the Google Play Store and the App Store, the Pokemon icon is easily recognizable - a red and white Pokeball on a blue background of the starry sky. By downloading the app to your smartphone, the game icon will retain the classic colors of the 2016 franchise. Both in the App Store and the Play Market, the application is easy to install, but before the release of the official version, "illegal" trainers noted application lags: the hero freezes when walking, information about new monsters was not updated, a crash when capturing monsters with a large CP and a red radius. With the entry into the Russian market, the situation has stabilized, and the servers are no longer rebooted, as in July.

Beginners should be more careful: "false pokemon" - virus applications - appeared at the height of pokemon mania, the icon of these applications is 75% identical to the original, but the graphics are inferior. By installing a virus in the form of a game, hackers gain access not only to personal data, but to the entire device. The best way to download the Pokemon GO app is to official groups that post content about the game, or global game markets.

On the Android and iOS platforms, the game was released, which was developed by the Niantic Labs studio specifically for Nintendo. The developers of the popular augmented reality game have applied their experience in creating the first full-fledged Nintendo mobile release. Already now, residents of countries such as Australia and New Zealand can try the new Pokémon GO, but the game is also available in other regions.
also strongly tied to augmented reality. Players must visit certain locations on real map to catch a virtual Pokémon there. The latter are mostly located near some attractions, so to catch a new Pokemon, you will need to walk or even drive around the city. The very process of capturing unusual animals is very simple: there is a Pokemon in the background that is broadcast by the camera; to catch it, you need to swipe gesture to launch a pokeball at it. Also in Pokémon GO there is something like PvP - players can arrange fights between their Pokémon.

The Pokémon GO APK installer can be downloaded from the Trashbox. The editors of the site have already managed to test the new product - there are even Pokemon on the map of a small Russian city, so it’s quite possible to play. Is that the interface is not translated into Russian. There may also be compatibility issues with some devices. The iOS version of the game is available on the App Store.
