Prince of Persia: Revelations

The PSP handheld port has had some gameplay tweaks:

  • Removed blood and dismemberment of enemies in the European version of the game.
  • Enemies often carry weapons that are not appropriate for their classes, for example Guardians can carry knives and Silhouettes can throw axes.
  • added one more trick - when taking away the weapon, the Prince can cut the enemy's throat.
  • when you visit the location again, the destroyed jugs are restored.

Completely new locations that add several hours of play:

  • the watchtower is located between the throne and the central hall, it must be activated to advance further.
  • huge palace cellars located under the Garden Tower and represented by caves through which an underground river flows.
  • a large puzzle map and many utility rooms along the way to the Mechanical Tower.
  • an extended period of play for the Sand Spirit, including many corridors with traps, a river of liquid lava and an altar hall with huge statues of the spirits of the four elements.

The sands of Time

The Prince, as in the first part of the game, is able to control the power of the Sands of Time, although he no longer possesses a dagger - now the power of the Sands lies in the Medallion of Time, which the Prince wears in his armor, and which was worn by Princess Farah in the first part of the game. However, at the beginning of the game, although having Sand chambers, the Prince is unable to do anything. New powers come to him every time he passes through the Portal of Time. There can be no more than six sand compartments, and there is only one type of compartment, as opposed to two in the first part. You can restore sand from enemies, some broken jugs and chests, as well as during any passage through the Portal of Time.

The Powers of the Sands become available gradually, and most of them are similar to the Powers of the Sands in the first part of the game:

  • Return (eng. Recall)- also called rewind, similar to the function in the first part of the game, allows you to rewind time back, canceling an unsuccessful jump or death, but the rewind is limited to eight seconds, against ten seconds in the first part of the game. Time also rewinds faster. Consumes one slot of Sand.
  • Eye of the Storm (Eng. Eye of the Storm)- is improved slowdown from the first part, slows down the whole world, except for the Prince, giving a significant advantage in speed and reaction, increasing his ability in combat and passing traps. Consumes one slot of Sand.
  • Breath of Fate (Eng. Breath of Fate), Wind of Fate (Eng. Wind of Fate), Storm of Fate (Eng. Cyclone of Fate)- three attacks that gradually become available, replacing each other, each of which knocks down all enemies around the Prince and knocks them back, dealing damage; each subsequent attack is significantly more powerful than the previous one, so the Storm of Doom kills most enemies. Sand consumption is adjustable and can be increased by increasing damage.
  • Ravages of Time- improved version Haste from the first part of the game, turns the screen red and gives the Prince tremendous attack speed while slowing enemies down. Consumes two sand tanks.

Graphic arts

At the time of release, the game had very modern graphics. The game uses the Jade game engine, it was used in the first part of the Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time trilogy, however it has been improved. Thus, lighting and shadows have improved, the number of polygons per model has increased, texture resolution has increased. In addition, it became possible to play on video cards that do not have support for pixel shaders (apparently, vertex shaders were emulated by the CPU), in particular, the GeForce MX440.

Java

In 2004, a mobile phone version of the game was released. It was developed by Gameloft and published by Ubisoft Entertainment. The game is a typical 2D platformer. The game has two modes - "Adventure" and "Arena", the first is a story passage of levels, and the second is a sequential passage of 15 short levels that are filled with various opponents.

Enemies include Raiders, Guardians, Ravens, and Sand Spirit as the final boss, while traps include spikes from the floor, blades from walls, and hammers from ceilings. The game has a combo system, and for completing levels and the Arena, the Prince receives new tricks. The power of the sands of time is non-existent, except for some moments when the Prince gains the ability to stop time in order to overcome very fast traps.

The plot of the game roughly corresponds to the plot of the original version, but significantly reduced and partially changed. The Prince arrives on the Isle of Time to kill the Empress of Time, who is after him because he used the Sand of Time to change his fate. His ship is attacked by the servants of the Empress and all his people are killed. However, the Prince ends up on the island and learns that he needs to travel back in time to defeat the Empress. He finds a portal to the past, the Empress offers the hero to serve her, but he refuses, and then the mistress of the island again sends the Prince to the present. Then the young man finds another portal and again falls into the past. This time, the Empress prepared for the Prince a fight that cannot be won - she orders the Sand Spirit, a version of the Prince from another time stream, to kill him, who agreed to the proposal of the Empress, became her servant and received invulnerability. However, the Prince's cunning defeats his counterpart and ruins the plans of the Empress.

titled "Prince of Persia: Strike with Destiny". The original title of the game literally translates to "The Warrior Within".

The story of the game begins a few years after the end of the events of the first part. Returning to his native Babylon, the Prince discovers that he is being hunted by the supernatural creature Dahaka (Dahaka) - the guardian of Time - who wants only one thing: the speedy death of the one who disturbed him. The prince forgot that during the rescue of the Sultan's palace, he inadvertently managed to break through the single Canvas of Time, changing his fate and thereby causing the coming of a demon into our world. The hero decides to take the most desperate step - a journey into the past. During the game, it is necessary to prevent the appearance of the Sands of Time in order to restore the previous balance of power. The prince will travel from the present to the past and try to change his fate.

The plot of the game

The Prince of Persia, in an attempt to change his fate, goes to the Island of Time, where once upon a time the Empress of Time invented the Sands of Time and the Dagger of Time, from where they were later stolen by the same Indian Maharaja, whom the army of the prince, along with his father, attacked in the first part of the game. The Prince intends to meet with the Empress and prevent the creation of the Sands of Time, thereby completely canceling their existence in history. On the way to the island, the prince's ship is attacked by sand demons led by a certain woman, Shahdi. In the battle, the prince loses his ship, his men and weapons, but makes it to the Island of Time. While pursuing Shahdi, he sees her leaving through a portal and follows her.

Further adventures of the Prince on the Island of Time will constantly lead him to portals in time using the same Sand of Time, and the Prince will be able to move from the flourishing past of the Island of Time (characterized by whole buildings and actively working mechanical traps) to the gloomy present (dark, full ruins, new obstacles and new moves). The Prince kills Shahdi, saving a certain girl calling herself Kaileena, who claims that the Empress of Time will not want to see the Prince and will be busy creating the Sands. However, Kaileena explains to the Prince how the castle works and how to open the gate to the throne room where the Empress resides.

During the game, the Prince is haunted by Dahaka, an immortal creature that can appear at the most unexpected moment, which is the Keeper of Time. Dahaka is hunting the Prince, as he is still alive and managed to change his fate (in the first part of the game), which Dahaka must fix. The Prince hopes that by preventing the creation of the Sands, he will get rid of Dahaka as well.

In addition to Dahaka, the Prince also constantly meets with a certain humanoid creature, which eventually dies at the hands of the emerging Dahaka, after which he stops chasing the Prince. The prince opens the throne room and learns that Kaileena is the Empress of Time and kills her in battle - in the past. However, the Dahaka does not disappear and the Prince decides that he has lost. Unexpectedly, finding himself in the tomb of the castle, the Prince reads on the walls a story about the Mask of the Sand Spirit, which is able to return to the past and give a chance to change his fate, but it can only be removed when the other self who put on the Mask, existing at the same time, dies. The Prince puts on the Mask, turning into the same Spirit, which turns out to be the strange creature that the Prince saw earlier (that is, he saw himself), and travels to the past, deciding to kill Kailina in the present, hoping that he will finally get rid of the Sands . When Dahaka appears again, he kills the Prince who was without the Mask, and the Prince who wore the Mask dodges the Dahaka's blow, thus changing his fate, dying and staying alive at the same time. As his other self who lived in this time dies, the Mask falls from the Prince's face, and he ceases to be the Sand Spirit.

The ending of the game depends on which sword the Prince has in his hands - the Scorpion Sword or the Water Sword (the Water Sword can be obtained if you find all 9 pedestals that increase the Prince's maximum health). If the Prince has the Scorpion Sword, he kills Kaileena in the final battle, having previously lured her through the portal at the present time, and leaves the island. If the Prince has the Sword of Water, then when he and Kaileena find themselves in the present time, Dahaka appears, this time coming for Kaileena, since she is not in her time. The Water Sword is the only weapon capable of killing the Dahaka, and the Prince engages him in battle, saving himself and the Empress, then they leave the Island of Time together. In both scenarios, the Prince prevents the very creation of the Sands of Time and the possibility for the Maharaja to later steal them from the island.

Game features

Characters

  • Prince of Persia (Ashi)- came from Babylon to the Island of Time, hoping to prevent the creation of the Sands of Time. He is very strong, agile, experienced in battles and masterfully owns edged weapons, both in one and in two hands. Hot-tempered, though reasonable.
  • Dahaka is a timestream demon whose goal is to kill the Prince for disrupting the timestream by changing his future with the Sands of Time. Dahaka does not own weapons, but it is impossible to kill him. Only water limits Dahaka, since it is the personification of life and, therefore, is unnatural for Dahaka, who is the herald of death. The Sword of Water is the only weapon that has the properties of water and can kill Dahaka. In most cases, the Prince is forced to flee.
  • Kaileena (Kaileena)- She is the Empress of Time, she wields two swords, can summon sand demons and move in space at high speed. Just like the Prince of Kaileena wants to change his fate, she saw in the time stream that the Prince must kill her, so she does her best to destroy him. On the other hand, in both Kaileen and the Prince, the desire to kill the enemy struggles with the feeling that they are similar to each other and, under other circumstances, could become quite close. If not for the help of Kaileena, the Prince would not have been able to open the entrance to the throne room. Kaileena has a fighting style similar to Shahdi's (and also uses the same weapons), but is much more dangerous due to her use of the powers of the Sands.
  • Shahdi (Shahdee)- A warrior girl sent by the Empress of Time to kill the Prince of Persia, wields two swords. Similar blades are also one of Kaileena's weapons.
  • Sandwraith- a kind of alter ego of the Prince. The Prince transforms into a Sand Spirit in one of the stages of the game by wearing the Mask of the Sandwraith. The Sand Spirit can use the powers of the Sands of Time almost without limit, but his health is constantly decreasing.

Gameplay

The gameplay is generally similar to the first part of the game, although much more attention is paid to fights. The combat system has been expanded, including the ability to pick up a second weapon in the left hand and is rich in a variety of combo attacks for one and two weapons, as well as extended combat acrobatics (hitting with a rebound from the wall of several options, knocking back the enemy) and even the ability to kill the enemy by strangulation.

The fundamental innovation in the gameplay is its non-linearity, compared to the first part of the game: most of the Island of Time is open to the public, and you can move relatively freely in any direction. There are also Time Portals that allow you to travel to the rich and flourishing past of the Isle or to the ruined and gloomy present, thus making it possible to navigate through two quite different versions of the game world.

An obstacle to free travel around the Island is a variety of plot hindrances. For example, in order to gain access to the system of bridges that open the way to different parts of the Island, you must first obtain a special sword-key. Another sword, one of the last in the game, is required to break through the dilapidated walls that hide new secret passages. There are also many game secrets on the Island: 9 pedestals that increase maximum health, numerous chests containing secrets (mostly drawings) and several types of secret weapons in the left hand.

Weapon

Main weapon (right hand)

The main weapon is always some kind of sword (except for a stick at the beginning of the game), which differs from others in unique abilities.

  • Eagle blade- The personal sword of the Prince, with which he starts the game, allows you to carry out triple combo attacks. The prince loses it in a shipwreck.
  • wooden stick- allows only double combos and has very low damage. The Prince finds her on the Island after losing his sword.
  • Spider Blade- an ancient sword from the Island of Time, which the Prince takes from one of the enemies, inflicts light damage and allows you to carry out triple combos.
  • Serpent Blade- the first sword that allows you to carry out four-strike combos, and is also the key that opens access to the knife switch that controls the bridge system that gives access to different parts of the castle. Kaileena gives it to the Prince.
  • Lionblade- Deals heavy damage and allows you to deliver a powerful blow with the accumulation of energy. Kaileena gives it to the Prince.
  • Broken Lionblade- after the first battle with Kailina, the Lionblade that belonged to the Prince breaks, and the hero has to use a piece of his blade for some time to fight the enemies. Deals low damage, but it can perform the same combos as the Lionblade.
  • Scorpion Blade- This sword is capable of destroying damaged walls and deals very high damage. His Prince finds in the present, but Dahaka does not allow him to take, but the Prince manages to get him from the past.
  • Water Blade- A secret sword that has all the abilities of the Scorpion Sword and is able to kill Dahaka is the key to the alternate ending of the game.

Secondary weapon (left hand)

A secondary weapon can be taken from any enemy with a weapon, it breaks fairly quickly, and can be thrown away at will. The choice of such weapons is quite large: many options for swords, maces, axes, daggers, a sharp disk and more. Many examples deal higher damage than the Prince's main weapon. With the help of two weapons, longer and much more powerful combos can be carried out. A weapon thrown at an enemy can also stun him for a while or even kill some weak enemies, and you can also kill an enemy with a series of hits on him, he turns grayish at that moment, throw a secondary weapon at him and ... next!

Secret secondary weapon

Several secret samples of secondary weapons can be found in the castle if you search very well. The secret weapon cannot be broken, but can be thrown away, causing it to be lost forever. All instructions mention WALL BREAKING. YOU NEED TO HAVE A SCORPION SWORD OR WATER SWORD TO GET TO THESE RELIC ITEMS. OTHERWISE YOU WILL NOT BE ABLE TO DO IT.

  • Rayman's Glove- the glove of the protagonist of the game Rayman, knocks down ordinary enemies with one blow (some claim that this is a Mickey Mouse glove). Can be found during one of the escapes from Dahaka in the catacombs (after the prince finds out about the Mask of the Ghost). When running, slow down time and look around: in one of the passages there is a weapon rack (with a glove in it).
  • Hockey stick- kills enemies with one hit (excluding bosses and giants). It is located next to the upgrade in the central rear, behind the wall from which the sand runs.
  • Teddy bear- a weak weapon, but it allows you to draw health from enemies and transfer it to the Prince. You can get it in the present in a room with a fireplace. Where the Beast broke the wall and after passing through the wall there is a pit with spikes. In the present, there are no spikes in the pit. Go down the hole and break the wall. Behind her is a stand with a bear.
  • Flamingo- a fairly fast weapon, whose appearance may be an allusion to the episode with the game of croquet with hedgehogs and flamingos from the fairy tale "Alice in Wonderland". Located in the present, in the location "Garden Hall". Press the button on the wall and the stone will move out. On it to the beam, and from it to the ledge. After breaking through the wall in the opening, to which there is a ledge, you will see a rack with a Flamingo.
  • Shining Sword- A greenish shining sword that has the highest level of damage, but takes away part of the Prince's health for each hit. A nod to Star Wars. Found in the Mystic Caves. After opening the door and jumping up to it on icicles, go down into the ravine and break the wall. There is a sword stand.

The sands of Time

The Prince, as in the first part of the game, is able to control the power of the Sands of Time, although he no longer possesses a dagger - apparently, now the power of the Sands lies in the Medallion of Time, which the Prince wears in his armor, and which was worn by Princess Farah in the first part of the game. However, at the beginning of the game, although having Sand chambers, the Prince is unable to do anything. New forces come to him with every first transition through the Portal of Time.

  • Recall- also called rewind, similar to the function in the first part of the game, allows you to rewind time back, canceling an unsuccessful jump or death, but the rewind is limited to eight seconds, against ten seconds in the first part of the game. Time also rewinds faster. Consumes one slot of Sand.
  • Eye of the Storm- is an improved slow from the first part, slows down the whole world, except for the Prince, giving a significant advantage in speed and reaction, increasing his ability in combat and passing traps. Consumes one slot of Sand.
  • Breath of Fate, Wind of Fate, Storm of Fate- three attacks that gradually become available, replacing each other, each of which knocks down all enemies around the Prince and knocks them back, dealing damage; each next attack is significantly more powerful than the previous one (Storm of Fate kills most enemies). Sand consumption is adjustable and can be increased by increasing damage.
  • Ravages of Time- An improved version of the Haste from the first part of the game, turns the screen red and gives the Prince a huge attack speed while slowing down enemies.

Enemies

Sand monsters in the second part of the game are much more agile than the enemies from the first part, and are also able to speak. This is probably due to the fact that in this case they were not created by chance, but intentionally and voluntarily received the powers of the Sands. The number of enemies is quite large, and they usually appear suddenly.

Former inhabitants of the Island of Time

  • Raiders- the first type of enemies, not too dangerous and smart, taken by the crowd, armed with the likeness of scimitars or axes, wear a mask similar to (or made from) an animal skull. Typical Raider calls are "Call for help", "Raise the alarm" and "Forgive me my defeat" (at death).
  • Keepers- very similar to the Raiders, but more dangerous and have more armor. Sometimes, dying, he says "I have fallen, but others will take my place."
  • Pirates- warriors in red and black, strong enough and dexterous, the main type of enemies, usually attack in groups.
  • Blade Dancers- women in red, extremely dexterous and fast, mastering acrobatic techniques, attack in twos or threes (or more), are able to jump over the Prince, dodging his attacks and block a blow while jumping, but they are weak and have little health. The Dancers sometimes appear on thin bars that the Prince must walk on while maintaining balance, in which case the Dancers will now and then suddenly jump forward and knock the Prince off his feet, then jumping back (the best technique for fighting in this position is simply to throw a second weapon. It will knock the Dancer off the bar.) Sometimes they run along the wall towards the Prince, striking and knocking down. You need to have a good reaction and a sense of timing in order to accurately strike and drop the Dancer. As a weapon, a kind of katar with two additional blades or sharp disks is used. They are especially prone to speaking in mocking phrases (“Didn’t they teach you not to beat women?”, “There is so much pleasure in pain…”, “Beat me more… MORE!”, “You call yourself a sword master?”, “The Empress will be pleased my victory")
  • Assassins- very similar to Blade Dancers, but stronger and therefore more dangerous. As a rule, they are armed with unusual daggers. There is also an almost completely invisible version of the Assassin.
  • Executioners- smart and strong enemies that cause significant damage and, compared to ordinary enemies, have a very large amount of health, however, they also attack in groups. They are armed with powerful swords and maces.

artificial creations

  • Crow Master- a warrior that materializes from a flock of crows and also dematerializes to continue the battle elsewhere, so you usually have to follow him at least three times to destroy him. Usually you can kill a raven with a combination: run to the enemy space mouse1 mouse1 mouse1, but when you fight him for the first time, there can be 2 or 3 such combinations for one of his dematerialization. He is armed with a powerful sword and delivers effective blows with a large scope, although he is not that dangerous if he is fought carefully, and always attacks alone. Interestingly, his lines to the Prince are usually respectful, in contrast to other enemies' taunts (such as "It's an honor to die by your hand").
  • Silhouette- amorphous creatures that throw several daggers at the Prince and are able to move sharply from place to place, however, they have a very low amount of health, so they can be killed with a weapon thrown from the left hand. His speech expresses pride in his abilities ("Don't you know, Prince, that you can't hear a shadow?").
  • Beast- a huge powerful golem, armored, but vulnerable from behind. Attacks with huge fists, has the ability to move quickly. Not smart, but very aggressive. He can only be killed by weakening him by attacking from behind, then jumping and inflicting numerous blows to the head, dodging his hands along the way when the Beast tries to throw the Prince off. A strong enemy, but rare and alone.

Beasts

  • Spike Beasts- a dog-like creature, strong, moves quickly, attacks in groups and, dying, explodes. Sometimes they sit on the wall, along which you need to run to drop the Prince.
  • Flesh Eaters- wolves, somewhat similar to Spikes, but weaker, attack in large numbers and do not explode. Flesh Eaters are found in large numbers in the Mist Caverns.

Bosses

  • Shahdi (Shahdee)- an assassin girl who attacked the Prince's ship, the right hand of the Empress and a dangerous fighter who wields two swords. However, with the right battle tactics, Shahdi is not very dangerous.
  • Slave (Thrall)- is a significantly enhanced version of the Beast. His health is restored every time he resets you. The possibilities and principle of murder are the same. We recommend that you first climb on his back a couple of times and hit him on the neck, and when his health is about half, climb on the back of the Slave and turn on time dilation before hitting him (to be sure).
  • Griffin (Griffon)- a mystical monster that lives on the Island of Time and has changed under the influence of the Sands. Attacks by diving, and at times drops to the ground and joins the fight when it is possible to kill him. Strong, but the powers of the Sands can greatly help in combat.
  • Empress of Time- same face with Kailina. It has a similar fighting style to Shahdi, but can break through the Prince's block, and is also able to periodically summon sand monsters similar to the Raven Lords and move at high speed. The first time you defeat her, but this will not change the intention of Dahaka and you will have to fight her again, only in the present tense. But if you find all 9 life upgrades, then you will fight with Dahaka in the present.
  • Dahaka- Dangerous, fast and able to restore health. It is impossible to kill him, but despite this, in the secret ending of the game (after finding all 9 upgrades), the Prince is able to defeat him with the Sword of Water and Kaileena's abilities. The best way to defeat him is to use Fury of Time to deal a lot of damage to Dahaka quickly, and when Kaileena shoots him and he's on the edge of the platform, run towards him and hit him with Eye of the Storm. It is desirable to have all 6 sand tanks, so that 2 of them go to Fury of Time, and the remaining 4 to continuously slow time with Eye of the Storm. The record time to kill Dahaka this way is 24 seconds.

Life Upgrades

There are nine in total

  • First upgrade

When you defeat Shahdi on the Altar and save the Girl "in red", pull the altar towards you and the door will open, behind which there are traps and the First Upgrade.

  • Second upgrade

Where the first time they fought with Raven, only in the past. Near the stairs on the floor behind the barrels there is a button that you need to press and, using the slowdown, run to the small grate. You can take this upgrade without having the power to slow down time. We press the button, immediately we climb over the railing and with rifts we get to the grate.

  • Third upgrade

When Kaileena gives you the Serpent Sword, in the Central Hall you need to insert it into the device, after which a lever will appear, which we turn towards the fountain. Further, if you look from the entrance to the Central Hall, you need to go to the left and go down, jumping from wall to wall. Then a little more acrobatics - and here we are at the right place.

  • Fourth upgrade

In the gardens (after turning the lever of the Central Hall towards the "Water" sign). We go to the site, where we were attacked by a lot of dagger throwers, there we hang from the hole in the "railing", go down the ledges, run across the wall and then a lot of acrobatics on the way to the upgrade.

  • Fifth upgrade

In the activation hall of the Water Tower, next to the central lever, turning which will start pouring water. Climb up there and go around simple traps. This upgrade can be taken even as a Sand Spirit.

  • Sixth upgrade

Mechanical tower, activation hall in the past (after turning the lever of the Central Hall towards the "Gear" sign). If you are in the process of activating it, then you need to make Brute throw a dog into the cracked wall to the left of the entrance. We go into the opened passage, bypass the traps and take the upgrade.

  • Seventh upgrade

In prison. When the giant boss (Big Brute) was killed, we go upstairs, go in the door. We see two walls with a crack. We break both, in one of them there is a button on the wall. With a slowdown, we press it, run to another door and take an upgrade.

  • Eighth upgrade

In library. When we are on the "arbors", where BladeDancer attacked us, look around a bit and you will see an opening in the wall, which you need to get to in order to get an upgrade.

  • Ninth upgrade

You should go for this upgrade ONLY after you first came from the prison to the Central Hall. On the way to the Altar, where there are many balconies, we climb onto the one where the broken lattice is. We break the grate, drag the box to the wall and use it to climb up. The button must be pressed slowly. We warn you that the traps are quite difficult.

  • Due to the ability to dismember enemies and the presence of abusive language in the game, she has a "Mature" rating (17+).
  • In some European countries (particularly Germany), the game was released without gore or dismemberment, making it available to a younger audience.
  • Farah's medallion worn by the Prince could not have been in his hands, because at the end of the first part, the Prince took it off himself, and after rewinding the time back and closing the Hourglass, in the final scene of the game, it is clear that Farah wore a medallion around her neck, therefore The Prince didn't have it. It's probably the writers' mistake.
  • The medallion was apparently created on the Island of Time, along with the Sands, the Hourglass, and the Dagger. This explains the presence of pedestals compatible with the Medallion, capable of improving the Medallion, increasing the wearer's physical endurance. In addition, it becomes clear why Farah did not turn into a sand monster in the first part.
  • Sand monsters, created not by chance, as in the first part of the game, but on purpose, much smarter than ordinary sand zombies, are active, able to perform acrobatic tricks and talk.
  • The Prince has black hair, although in the first part of the game it was dark blond, but, curiously, in both parts in the CG cutscenes, the Prince's hair was still black.
  • In different parts of the game, the Prince is voiced by different actors.
  • If during the flight from Dahaka you activate the rewind of time, then you can understand what Dahaka is talking about.
  • Dahaka looks like the black-painted Diablo from the computer game of the same name.
  • The bracelet-like tattoo on the Prince's left arm is copied from one of the developers.
  • Kaileena voiced by

Prince of Persia: Warrior Within(Prince of Persia: The Warrior Within) is a computer game from the Prince of Persia series. The official localization of the game is called Prince of Persia: Warrior Within. The PlayStation Portable version was released in April 2005 under the title Prince of Persia: Revelations(Prince of Persia: Revelations).

Due to the ability to dismember enemies, the presence of abusive language in the game, and skimpy female characters, she has a "Mature" rating (17+). In some European countries (particularly Germany), the game was released without gore or dismemberment, making it available to a younger audience.

The plot of the game

The Prince of Persia, in an attempt to change his fate, goes to the Island of Time, where once upon a time the Empress of Time created the Sands of Time and the Dagger of Time, from where they were later stolen by the same Indian Maharaja, whose palace the army of the prince, along with his father, attacked in the first part of the game . The Prince intends to meet with the Empress and prevent the creation of the Sands of Time, thereby completely canceling their existence in history. On the way to the island, the prince's ship is attacked by sand demons led by a certain woman, Shadi. In the battle, the prince loses his ship, his men and weapons, but makes it to the Island of Time. Chasing Shadi, he sees her leaving through a portal and follows her.

Further adventures of the Prince on the Island of Time will constantly lead him to portals in time using the same Sand of Time, and the Prince will be able to move from the flourishing past of the Island of Time (characterized by whole buildings and actively working mechanical traps) to the gloomy present (dark, full ruins, new obstacles and new traps).

The Prince kills Shadi, saving a certain girl calling herself Kaileena, who claims that the Empress of Time will not want to see the Prince and will be engaged in the creation of the Sands. However, Kaileena explains to the Prince how the castle works and how to open the gate to the throne room where the Empress resides.

During the game, the Prince is haunted by Dahaka, an immortal creature that can appear at the most unexpected moment, which is the Keeper of Time. Dahaka hunts the Prince because he survived and managed to change his fate, which Dahaka must fix. The Prince hopes that by preventing the creation of the Sands, he will "undo" the events that took place in the first game, when the opening of the Hourglass caused the Prince to change the time stream. And if in the past the Prince does not change the flow of Time, then he will get rid of the persecution of Dahaka.

The official publisher of the game in Russia is the company "Akella" under the name "Prince of Persia: Fight with Destiny". The original title of the game literally translates to "The Warrior Within".

Due to the ability to dismember enemies and the presence of abusive language in the game, she has a "Mature" rating (17+). In some European countries (particularly Germany), the game was released without gore or dismemberment, making it available to a younger audience.

The story of the game begins a few years after the end of the events of the first part. During the rescue of the Sultan's palace, the Prince inadvertently broke through the Cloth of Time, changing his fate, and thus the Guardian of Time Dahaka was summoned to our world. Returning to his native Babylon, the Prince discovers that a supernatural being is hunting him, eager to kill the one who disturbed him. The Prince decides to travel to the past to prevent the emergence of the Sands of Time and restore the balance of power.

On the way to the island, the prince's ship is attacked by sand demons led by a certain woman, Shadi. In the battle, the prince loses his ship, his men and weapons, but makes it to the Island of Time. Chasing Shadi, he sees her leaving through a portal and follows her.

The prince opens the throne room and learns that Kaileena is the Empress of Time and kills her in battle (in the past).

The third part of the game, Prince of Persia: The Two Thrones, is based on the second, happier ending.

Game features

Warrior Within differs from the first game in the presence of gore, dismemberment and profanity, which is why it has a "Mature" rating.

Eastern style is practically absent in the game, the music is metal and hard rock from the band Godsmack, whose composition "I Stand Alone", from the single of the same name in 2002, was included in the title video.

A well-developed combat system with numerous combinations of attacks using one or two weapons.

During the game, the Prince constantly has to travel from the past to the present and vice versa using special time portals. It is impossible to complete the entire game in one time. For example, in the present, the stone bridge leading to the fortress is destroyed, but in the past it is intact.

The first time you use each Time Portal, the Prince gains new abilities to control time and sand, similar to those in the first part of the game. Also, every time you go through the portal, the Prince replenishes the supply of Sands.

There are up to 9 maximum health points to be found during the game. These places are made according to the same principle. The entrance to such a place is usually disguised, if the player finds this entrance, he enters a corridor with many traps, passing through which he finds a strange wall. By inserting his amulet into it, the Prince increases his maximum health. After that, all traps are turned off and you can go back without any difficulties. These places are optional, you can complete the game without visiting any of them. After visiting all 9 pedestals, you can get a double health bar. In the hall with an hourglass, in the center of a circle of strange symbols, a pedestal with a water sword, the most powerful weapon in the game, will appear.

The game has two endings, depending on whether the player has found all 9 health pedestals.

Several times during the game there are episodes with Dahaka, where the player needs to run away very quickly, instantly focusing on the terrain, because, having overtaken the Prince, Dahaka kills him.

Characters

Prince of Persia: Warrior Within

Prince of Persia: Warrior Within

Prince of Persia - Came from Babylon to the Island of Time, hoping to prevent the creation of the Sands of Time. He is very strong, agile, experienced in battles and masterfully owns edged weapons, both in one and in two hands. Hot-tempered, though reasonable.

Prince of Persia: Warrior Within

Prince of Persia: Warrior Within

Dahaka is a timestream demon whose goal is to kill the Prince for disrupting the timestream by changing his future with the Sands of Time.

Prince of Persia: Warrior Within

Prince of Persia: Warrior Within

Kaileena (Kaileena) - she is the Empress of time, wields two swords, can summon sand demons and move in space at high speed. Kaileena has a fighting style similar to Shadi (as well as fighting with the same weapons), but is much more dangerous due to her use of the powers of the Sands and the summoning of sand creatures.

Shahdee - A warrior girl sent by the Empress of Time to kill the Prince of Persia, she wields two swords. Similar blades are also one of Kaileena's weapons.

The Sandwraith is the Prince's alter ego of sorts. The Prince transforms into a Sand Spirit in one of the stages of the game by wearing the Mask of the Sandwraith. The Sand Spirit can use the powers of the Sands of Time almost without limit, but his health is constantly decreasing.

Gameplay

The gameplay is generally similar to the first part of the game, although much more attention is paid to the fights.

For example, in order to gain access to the system of bridges that open the way to different parts of the Island, you must first obtain a special Snake Sword Key. The other sword, the Scorpion Blade, is required to break through the dilapidated walls that hide new secret passages. There are also many game secrets on the Island: 9 pedestals that increase maximum health, numerous chests containing secrets (mostly drawings) and several types of secret weapons in the left hand.

Main weapon (right hand)

The main weapon is always some kind of sword (except for a stick at the beginning of the game), which differs from others in unique abilities.

Prince of Persia: Warrior Within

Eagle Blade - The Prince's personal sword, with which he starts the game, allows for triple combo attacks. The prince loses it in a fight with Shadi on the ship.

A formidable, noble sword worthy of a prince.

Prince of Persia: Warrior Within

Prince of Persia: Warrior Within

Wooden stick - only allows for double combos and has very little damage. The Prince finds her on the Island after losing his sword.

This durable wooden stick replaces the weapon to some extent.

The Spider Blade is an ancient sword from the Isle of Time, which the Prince takes from one of the enemies, deals light damage and allows for triple combos.

This ancient sword is well known on the island.

The Serpent Blade is the first sword that allows for four-hit combos, and is also the key that opens access to the knife switch that controls the bridge system that gives access to different parts of the castle. Kaileena gives it to the Prince.

This special sword serves as the key.

Lion Blade - deals heavy damage and allows you to deliver a powerful blow with the accumulation of energy. Kaileena gives it to the Prince. It is later revealed that Kaileena cursed this sword in order to kill the prince.

This mystical sword allows you to store energy.

Broken Lion Blade - After the first battle with Kailina, the Lion Blade that belonged to the Prince breaks, and the hero has to use a fragment of his blade for some time to fight enemies. Deals low damage, but it can perform the same combos as the Lionblade.

Scorpion Blade - This sword is able to destroy damaged walls and inflicts very high damage. His Prince finds in the present, but Dahaka does not allow him to take, but the Prince manages to get him from the past.

This sword breaks walls.

Prince of Persia: Warrior Within

Water Blade - a secret sword that has all the abilities of the Scorpion Sword and is able to kill Dahaka, is the key to the game's alternate ending; very similar to Kaileena and Shadi's sword.

A very rare sword. According to legend, it has incredible power.

Secondary weapon (left hand)

Additional weapons can be taken from any enemy. It breaks quite quickly and can be thrown away at will. The choice of such weapons is quite large (many options for swords, maces, axes, daggers, a sharp disk, and more). Many examples do more damage than the Prince's main weapon, and some have additional abilities - for example, a mace can easily knock down opponents. A weapon thrown at an enemy can stun them for a while or even kill some weak enemies.

With the help of two types of weapons, longer and much more powerful combos can be carried out.

Secret secondary weapon

Several secret samples of secondary weapons can be found in the castle if you search very well. The secret weapon cannot be broken, but can be thrown away, causing it to be lost forever.

Prince of Persia: Warrior Within

Prince of Persia: Warrior Within

Rayman's glove - the glove of the protagonist of the game Rayman, knocks down normal enemies with one hit (some say it's Mickey Mouse's glove). Can be found during one of the escapes from Dahaka in the catacombs (after the prince finds out about the Mask of the Ghost). During the escape, you need to slow down time and look around: in one of the passages there is a weapon rack (with a glove in it).

Hockey stick - kills enemies with one blow (excluding bosses and giants). It is located next to the upgrade in the central hall, behind the wall from which the sand runs.

The Teddy Bear is a weak weapon, but it allows you to drain health from enemies and transfer it to the Prince. Can be obtained in the present tense in a room with a fireplace. Where the Beast broke the wall and after passing through the wall there is a pit with spikes. There are no spikes in the pit at present. Go down the hole and break the wall. Behind her is a stand with a bear.

The flamingo is a fairly fast weapon, whose appearance may be a nod to the episode of croquet with hedgehogs and flamingos from the fairy tale Alice in Wonderland. Located in the present time in the location "Garden Hall". Press the button on the wall and a rock will pop out. On it to the beam, and from it to the ledge. After breaking through the wall in the opening, to which there is a ledge, you will see a rack with a Flamingo.

Acid Sword - A greenish glowing sword that has the highest level of damage, but takes away part of the Prince's health for each hit. Found in the Mist Caverns. After opening the door and jumping to it on icicles, go down into the ravine and break the wall.

Recall - also called rewind, similar to the function in the first part of the game, allows you to rewind time back, canceling an unsuccessful jump or death, but the rewind is limited to eight seconds, against ten seconds in the first part of the game. Time also rewinds faster. Consumes one slot of Sand.

Eye of the Storm - is an improved slowdown from the first part, slows down the whole world, except for the Prince, giving a significant advantage in speed and reaction, increasing his ability in combat and passing traps. Consumes one slot of Sand.

Breath of Fate, Wind of Fate, Cyclone of Fate - three attacks that gradually become available, replacing each other, each of which knocks down all enemies around the Prince and knocks them back, dealing damage ; each next attack is significantly more powerful than the previous one (Storm of Fate kills most enemies). Sand consumption is adjustable and can be increased by increasing damage.

Ravages of Time - An upgraded version of the Rush from the first game, it turns the screen red and gives the Prince tremendous attack speed while slowing down enemies. Consumes two sand tanks.

Raiders (Raiders) - the first type of enemies, not too dangerous and smart, take the crowd, armed with the likeness of scimitars or axes, wear a mask similar to (or made from) an animal skull. Typical Raider calls are "Call for help", "Raise the alarm" and "Forgive me my defeat" (at death).

Keepers - very similar to Raiders, but more dangerous and have more armor. Sometimes, dying, he says "I have fallen, but others will take my place."

Pirates (Pirates) - warriors in red and black, strong enough and dexterous, the main type of enemies, they usually attack in groups.

Bladedancers - women in red, extremely dexterous and fast, mastering acrobatic techniques, attacking in twos or threes (or more), able to jump over the Prince, dodging his attacks and blocking a blow in a jump, however, they are weak and have little health .

Assassins (Assassins) - very similar to Blade Dancers, but stronger and therefore more dangerous. As a rule, they are armed with unusual daggers. There is also an almost completely invisible version of the Assassin.

Executioners are smart and strong enemies that deal significant damage and, compared to ordinary enemies, have a very large amount of health, however, they also attack in groups. They are armed with powerful swords and maces. Usually they say in battle: “Attack him immediately!”, “Beat him with swords, but I must strike the last blow!”

The Crow Master is a warrior that materializes from a flock of crows and also dematerializes to continue the fight elsewhere, so you usually have to follow him at least three times to destroy him. His phrases to the Prince are usually respectful, in contrast to the taunts of other enemies (such as "To die by your hand is an honor").

Silhouette (Silhouette) - amorphous creatures that throw several daggers at the Prince and are able to quickly move from place to place, but have a very low amount of health, so they can be killed with a weapon thrown from their left hand. His speech expresses pride in his abilities ("Don't you know, Prince, that you can't kill a shadow?"

Beast (Brute) - a huge powerful golem, clad in armor, but vulnerable from behind. Attacks with huge fists, has the ability to move quickly. A strong enemy, but rare and alone. Not smart, but very aggressive. He can be killed by attacking from behind, jumping and inflicting numerous blows to the head, along the way dodging his hands when trying to throw the Prince. Slowing down time, dodge the hands do not have to. Golem, as a rule, does not even have time to swing.

Griffin is a mystical monster that lives on the Island of Time and has changed under the influence of the Sands. Attacks by diving, and at times drops to the ground and joins the fight when it is possible to kill him. Its feature is a constant, albeit small recovery of health. Strong, but the forces of the Sands can greatly help in battle.

Empress of Time - aka Kaileena. Kaileena has a fighting style similar to Shadi (and also fights with the same weapon), but is much more dangerous, as she can break through the Prince's block, and is also able to periodically summon sand monsters and move at high speed. You need to fight with her from one to two times.

In the secret ending of the game (after finding all 9 health upgrades), the Prince is able to defeat him with the Sword of Water and Kaileena's abilities.

Interesting Facts

The medallion worn by the Prince was given to him by Farah in the first part of the game. After rewinding time and closing the Hourglass, in the final scene of the game, Farah is seen wearing a medallion around her neck. The medallion of the prince, received by him in the future, remained with him, therefore, in the present there are two of them.

The medallion was apparently created on the Island of Time, along with the Sands, the Hourglass, and the Dagger. This explains the presence of pedestals compatible with the Medallion, capable of improving the Medallion, increasing the wearer's physical endurance. In addition, it becomes clear why Farah did not turn into a sand monster in the first part.

The Prince has black hair, although in the first part of the game it was dark blond, but in both parts in the CG cutscenes, the Prince's hair was still black.

In different parts of the game, the Prince is voiced by different actors. In the Russian version, as well as in the film adaptation, the prince speaks in the voice of Peter Ivashchenko. The dubbing is superimposed by the type of off-screen translation.

If you activate the rewind while running from the Dahaka, you can understand what the Dahaka is talking about.

Dahaka looks like the black-painted Diablo from the computer game of the same name.

Dahaka also resembles the Balrog from Peter Jackson's The Lord of the Rings film trilogy. There is a scripted scene in the game when the Prince, in the guise of a Sand Spirit, runs across the bridge from Dahaka. The bridge collapses under Dahaka and, like the Balrog in The Lord of the Rings, he tries to pull the Prince along with him. But, unlike Gandalf, the Prince chopped off the "tentacle"

The bracelet-like tattoo on the Prince's left arm is copied from one of the developers.

Kaileena is voiced by Italian actress Monica Bellucci.

During the battle with Shadi on the ship, the sword knocked out of the Prince's hands pierces the mast, but in the movie clip, the sword, together with the Prince, sinks into the depths.

You can also collect life replenishment upgrades before the Prince puts on the Mask of the Sand Spirit, having received a water sword. At the same time, in the video, when he finds the Mask, he still has a scorpion sword behind his back, and not a water sword.

The prince cannot spin in place (arching backwards) without an additional weapon, but if you perform this combo with a short dagger, it is clear that the dagger does not touch the enemy. That is, the Prince cannot perform a combo without an additional weapon, but if this weapon is a dagger, then it will not touch the enemy, but the effect of a failed touch will be!

In one of the episodes where you need to run away from Dahaka, it is possible, by running behind a barrel, to go beyond the script zone - Dahaka will pass by and, having reached the water barrier, will disappear!

If the Prince falls into the abyss, the light of the acid sword is extinguished.

After the return of time, torn curtains and broken pots are not restored.

On the level "Library", playing as the Sand Spirit, it is possible to deceive the Dahaka. Jumping from the beams above him and slowing down time, we quickly run along the right wall towards him, while Dahaka is about to make a jump. We hang on the cliff, climb the ledges to the gate and go the same way as the first time. Thus, the player can skip the "Fog Cave" level (the place where the acid sword is located) and immediately get into the mechanical tower without breaking the storyline. But going back to the cave will not work, Dahaka will grab the Prince anyway.

History of the Prince of Persia

The Sands of Time

Prince of Persia

Prince - future heir to the throne and son of King Shahraman- returns with his father from a military campaign. Along the way, they, along with their army, plan to capture the castle of the Indian ruler Maharaja. In this they are helped by the insidious Vizier, who actually pursues his own plans - to get the Dagger of Time from the treasury of the Maharaja, with which you can control the Sands of Time, enclosed in a large hourglass in the same treasury. Having seized the power of the Sands of Time, one can become immortal, and the Vizier knows this.

The Vizier's plan is thwarted when the Dagger is found by the Prince. Arriving at a friend of the Prince's father - the Sultan of the city of Azad, at the reception, at the request of the Sultan, the Prince inserts the Dagger into the hourglass, which frees the Sands of Time, which turn his father, the inhabitants of the palace and numerous Persian warriors into sand zombies, which can only be destroyed by hitting everything the same Dagger of Time. At this point, the Prince and the Sands of Time are separated.

In order to seal the Sands of Time back and remove the curse from those dear to him, the Prince needs to find the hourglass and close it with the Dagger of Time.In search of an hourglass stolen by the Vizier, the Prince meets his later companion, Farah, who was the daughter of the Maharaja, who had been enslaved by the Prince's father. She, like the Prince, managed to avoid the destructive touch of the Sands of Time. In addition to the Prince and Farah, the Sands did not touch the Vizier, who is striving with all his might to get the Dagger. After going through many trials and finally getting into the hall with an hourglass, the Prince begins to doubt Farah's loyalty to him: he believes that the Indian princess has enough reasons to hate him- in fact, it all started because of the attack of Persian soldiers on India. Taking advantage of this, the Vizier transports the Prince, along with Farah, to the crypt, where Farah tricks her into obtaining the Dagger of Time and goes alone to close the Sands of Time, leaving the Sword of Light intact, which is several times more effective than the Dagger in the fight against sand monsters.

The Prince kills the Vizier

Awakening in the crypt, the Prince goes after Farah and overtakes her only in the tower where the clock is located. Distracted in a fight with monsters, Farah dies, leaving the Prince her medallion and the Dagger of Time. The Prince, despite the persuasion of the Vizier who appeared, closes the hourglass and thereby returns back in time with the Dagger- in the early morning, before the attack of the Persian army on the palace of the Maharaja.
Waking up in his tent with a dagger in his hand, the Prince heads to the palace of the Maharaja. Arriving there, he secretly sneaks into Farah's chambers, who is unaware of the Vizier's betrayal. Upon meeting Farah, he tells her about the Sands of Time. When the Prince finishes his story, a two-faced Vizier appears in Farah's chambers, who, seeing Farah and the Prince, decides to kill first one, and then the other. The Prince fights and defeats the Vizier (who has tuberculosis), leaving him to die in a pool of his own blood. After killing the Vizier, the Prince gives the Dagger to Farah and hides in the Indian jungle.

Warrior Within

Prince of Persia

Since the Prince released the Sands of Time, thereby breaking the Timeline, he began to be hunted by the magical demon Dahak- Guardian of the Stream of Time. Dahaka is looking for the one who broke the single time stream and will not stop until he kills the Prince. The prince seeks salvation from his doomed fate and goes on the run.

In an attempt to change his fate, he goes to the Island of Time, where the Empress of Time created the Sands of Time and the Dagger of Time long ago, from where they were later stolen by the same Indian Maharaja, whom the army of the Prince's father attacked in the first part of the game. The Prince intends to meet with the Empress and prevent the creation of the Sands of Time, thereby completely canceling their existence in history, guided by the fact that if there are no Sands, Dahaka will not care about him. On the way to the Island, the Prince's ship is attacked by sand monsters led by a certain woman, Shahdi. In the battle with her, the Prince loses the ship, his people and weapons, but gets to the Island of Time. While pursuing Shahdi, he sees her leaving through a strange portal and follows her into it. Further adventures of the Prince on the Island of Time will constantly lead him to portals in time using the same Sand of Time, and the Prince will be able to move from the flourishing past of the Island of Time to the gloomy present and back.

Pursuing Shahdi, the Prince kills her, saving a certain girl calling herself Kaileena, who claims that the Empress of Time will not want to see the Prince and will be engaged in the creation of the Sands, and if he neglects this and comes to her- will kill him. However, Kaileena explains to the Prince how the castle works and how to open the gate to the throne room where the Empress resides.

But Dahaka found the Prince on the Island and constantly pursues him. The prince has to flee from Dahaka; and the Guardian of Time cannot pass through the water, which is what the Prince uses. The Dahaka only pursues the Prince in the present. In addition to Dahaka, the Prince also constantly meets with a certain humanoid creature, which eventually dies at the hands of Dahaka, after which he stops chasing the Prince.

The prince opens the throne room and finds out that Kaileena is the Empress of Time, who wants to kill him because she saw her death at his hand in the time stream and decided to change her fate herself. The Prince does not want her dead, but the Empress leaves him no choice. In battle, he kills her - in the past. So Kaileena herself caused her death. However, Dahaka does not disappear and continues to pursue the Prince: Kaileena was killed in the past, and the power of Time contained in her burst out in the form of the Sands of Time.

" I - the architect of my own destruction... In my quest to destroy the Sands of Time, I became the one who created it ," - the words of the Prince, when he miraculously managed to escape from the appeared Dahaka in an ancient tomb on the Island.

The prince decides that he has lost. But being in despair in the tomb, the Prince found on the wall strange writings on the walls, which told the story of an Indian warrior. When he and his comrades arrived on the Isle with the Maharaji in search of the relics of the Sands of Time, few managed to escape; this warrior is dead.

"But the Ghost Mask gave me a second chance" - so it was said in the letters.

After reading these letters, the Prince learns about the Mask of the Ghost, which is able to return to the past and give a chance to change his fate, but it can only be removed when the other "I" who put on the Mask, existing at the same time, dies. The Prince puts on the Mask, turning into the Sand Spirit, which turns out to be the strange creature that the Prince saw earlier (that is, he saw himself). Despair seizes him again: the Sand Spirit died at the hands of Dahaka.

"I just got a second chance... to lose" - Doomedly said the Prince, turning into a Sand Spirit.

But still, the Prince travels to the past, deciding to kill Kaileena in the present, hoping that he will finally get rid of the Sands. When the Dahaka reappears to kill the Sand Spirit, the latter does not come out of hiding, and the Guardian of the Time Stream destroys the Prince's alter ego, which was there without a GHOST MASK. As the other self of the Prince who lived in this time dies, the Mask falls from his face, and he ceases to be a Sand Spirit.

When the Prince meets Kaileena again- in the past He already knows who she is. When Kaileena finds out that he knows she is the Empress, she rushes at him. The Prince runs to the time portal to the present and in a short fight pushes the Empress into the portal. She leaves the past for the first time.

When the Prince finds her in the present, they nearly have another duel that would still end in the same- death of the Empress. But Dahaka suddenly appears, who simply throws aside the Prince, dumbfounded by his appearance, and grabs Kaileena.

"Kaileena does not belong to this time stream! Now the creature is after her! By bringing her here, I sentenced her to death... It's all YOUR fault!!!" cried the Prince, lunging at Dahaka and stabbing him with his new sword- Sword of Water.

To the Prince's deepest surprise, Dahaka throws Kaileena away with a scream of pain. The prince realizes that since the Guardian of the Time Stream cannot pass through water, he will be vulnerable to the Water Sword as well. After destroying the terrible demon with the help of the Empress, they leave the Island of Time together.

Two Thrones (The Two Thrones)

Returning to Babylon, the Prince and Kaileena discover the city is at war with an unknown enemy, whose army soon captures Kaileena. In search of her, the Prince learns that the same Indian Vizier, together with Magarazhi, made an expedition to the Island of Time, finding there everything that was the last time, except for the Sands of Time themselves: they simply did not exist.

Having killed Dahaka and sailed away with Kailina from the Island of Time, the Prince canceled the very creation of the Sands of Time, and also canceled all the events associated with them: the attack of his father's army on the castle of the Indian Maharaja, the opening and closing of the hourglass, and the murder of the Vizier.

" Many years ago, the Maharajas of India and I traveled to the Island of Time to discover its secrets. We saw bleak desert ruins, the halls were deserted, the guardians of the Island turned to sand. Strange writing adorned the walls of the halls, stories that spoke of the Empress of Time. But we did not find traces of this mysterious creature. But we returned to India with booty: a staff, a dagger, an empty hourglass adorned with precious stones, books - what secrets they kept! Even then I was an old man and knew that my life was coming to an end. These books told me how to become immortal. But I needed the essence of the Empress herself - the power of the Sands. But I was unable to find you or them. At least that's what I thought. I moved on to other things and gave up the dream of eternal life. But then, four weeks ago, the dagger moved and began to show me different pictures, whispered in a dream, he called me here, to Babylon! But the Maharaja had no such visions. He would not let me go, so I killed him and took his kingdom and his army for myself. Now nothing could stop me on the way to my cherished goal... " - the Vizier's monologue heard by the Prince when the latter reached the place where Kaileena was being held.

Arriving there, the Prince witnesses the Vizier's rebirth into the embodiment of the magic of Time after the latter kills the Empress and plunges the Dagger of Time charged with her power into himself. The Prince manages to escape the Vizier by taking possession of the Dagger of Time. Making his way through the canals of Babylon, the Prince discovers an alter ego that has awakened in him, connected to the fact that the Prince is already infected with the Sands of Time, which is a cynical and cruel voice talking to him. The Prince also periodically transforms outwardly, turning into a sand monster (which is similar to turning into a Sand Spirit in the second part of the game), constantly losing health, but replenishing it only with Sand. Water can save the Prince from his changes, turning him into a normal state.

Once on the surface, the Prince finds himself far from Babylon. Getting to the Vizier with a new "dark ally", the Prince meets the Indian princess Farah, who, like the Prince, seeks to destroy the Vizier, who betrayed and killed her father.

The only thing Farah has changed- she does not know the Prince (this is due to the fact that, having canceled the creation of the Sands, the Prince and Farah had never met before).

But at some point, Farah and the Prince are separated. And the Prince, who reached the Vizier alone, discovers that the latter has already managed to capture the girl. The Prince kills the Vizier, but as soon as he returns the Dagger to the spirit of Kaileena that appeared for this, the Dark Prince decides to take over the Prince's body, and begins to fight the Prince in his mind, where the latter defeats his dark half. After waking up, the Prince talks to Farah about Time and who he really is.

Incarnations of the Prince of Persia

Sand Spirit

Prince's alter ego in Warrior Within. The Prince turns into a Sand Spirit in one of the stages of the game, wearing the Mask of the Sandwraith, in hopes of stopping Dahaka. The Sand Spirit can use the powers of the Sands of Time almost without limit, but his health is constantly decreasing.

Dark Prince

The reverse side of the Prince's personality. She awakens under the influence of the Sands of Time in The Two Thrones. She is cruel, reckless, ruthless and selfish. Seeks to completely take control of the body of the Prince and gain power over Babylon. Like the Sand Spirit, the Dark Prince's health is constantly decreasing, but it can be replenished with the Sand of Time, and not water, as in the second part. The Dark Prince, who stepped into the water, turns into an ordinary prince.
